SAIL Amsterdam 2025

We look forward to welcoming you to SAIL Amsterdam 2025 on Friday 22 August. From the water, you will experience SAIL at its best: surrounded by impressive Tall Ships, the atmosphere of the maritime spectacle, and a unique view of the event.

Program – Friday 22 August

  • 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. – Reception in the Lobby Lounge of the Park Inn by Radisson City West hotel (only for guests who have booked a hotel room)
  • 5:00 p.m. – Departure of the VARO bus from the hotel to SAIL (only for hotel guests)
  • 5:45 p.m. – Reception in the SAIL Village Westhaven
  • 6:45 p.m. – Boarding time
  • 7:00 p.m. sharp – Departure of the boat
  • 12:00 a.m. – End of cruise + return bus to Park Inn hotel (for hotel guests only)

Please note: the departure cannot be delayed. We kindly request that you arrive at least 30 minutes before boarding time. SAIL is one of the busiest events of the year, so please arrive on time and take into account heavy traffic, traffic jams, and possible delays.

During the cruise

It is not possible to disembark during the cruise. So please bring everything you need and be ready for an evening full of atmosphere, music, and impressive sailing ships.

Boarding pass

  • You will receive your boarding pass(es) by email one week prior to the event.
  • The arrival time stated on the boarding pass is when you are expected, but we ask that you be present no later than 6:15 p.m.
  • REINPLUS FIWADO Bunker/VARO has its own reception desk in the SAIL Village Westhaven. We request that you report there immediately upon arrival so that we know you are present.

Clothing advice

The weather can be unpredictable on the water: the sun can be bright, but it can also cool down quickly. Therefore, we recommend:

  • Bring sunglasses;
  • Wear comfortable clothing (in layers);
  • Wear shoes with a non-slip sole (advice: no heels);
  • Dress code: informal.

The story of the Wylde Swan

The Wylde Swan began her life in 1920 as the steamship Jemo, built for the herring fleet. Designed to bring fresh fish to port quickly, her streamlined hull later caught the eye of Captain Willem Sligting, who dreamed of a training ship that could also win sailing races. In 2010 the Wylde Swan was launched and began her new life as a topsail schooner. Today the ship is home to the Masterskip program, a school at sea where high school students combine learning and travel. With now 15 years on the water, the Wylde Swan continues to inspire young people and provide a bridge to a promising future.

Guests using public transport

If you have indicated that you do not need a parking ticket.

  • From Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station, a shuttle bus will take you quickly and comfortably to the SAIL site and return you after the cruise.
    Shuttles depart regularly from the north side of the station. The journey time is approximately 15–20 minutes.
    Please make sure you get on the correct bus — there are two. Our ship departs from SAIL Village Westhaven!

Guests with parking ticket

You have indicated that you are traveling to the SAIL site by car and have requested a parking ticket.

  • The parking ticket provides access to a special VIP parking area within walking distance of SAIL Village Westhaven. You will receive this ticket one week before the event by email.
  • Please note: there are no charging points for electric vehicles.

Hotel guests – Park Inn by Radisson City West

We have reserved a hotel room for you at the Park Inn by Radisson City West hotel upon request.

  • You can park your car in the hotel's parking garage.

  • Check-in is possible from 3:00 p.m.
  • We will be happy to welcome you between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. in the hotel Lobby Lounge with a drink & snack.
  • The bus reserved by REINPLUS FIWADO Bunker/VARO will depart promptly at 5:00 p.m. for the SAIL Village Westhaven. Please make sure you arrive on time – it can be busy on the way to the SAIL site.
